Welcome to Tervaniemi!

Like many other older sites in the village of Tervakoski, also the history of the Tervaniemi main building is bound to the paper mill of Tervakoski.
The ringleader of the paper mill at that time, Mr. Frans Emil Humble, built Tervaniemi as a delightful summer cottage for his wife Matilda in 1886. Humble chose the most beautiful spot right by the lake side in the middle of nature, also by the upper reaches of the river and the paper mill. Matilda lived in the building for 21 years and after her time, the building has been used for various purposes, e.g. as a residence of the paper mill employees.

In 1989 a new era started in Tervaniemi. The building was renovated, the floors were renewed, the walls got silky wallpapers and the original sealing ornaments were discovered and refurbished. Also the fire places were reconditioned and the salons were furnished with antique furniture. The operation as a restaurant started in December 1989. In the same time, 20 fully equipped cottages were built in the near surroundings of the main building. The operation under the name “Tervaniemi” started in June 1993.

Today Tervaniemi is a peaceful getaway for both business and leisure. In Tervaniemi You can have successful meetings and conferences, an unforgettable party or just a relaxing holiday in one of our home-like cottages. There are 3 meeting rooms, all with modern facilities (e.g. WIFI and AV-equipment) and an amazing view to the lake we are located at.

Tervaniemi is in Tervakoski, located about 80 km North from Helsinki; close enough to get here but far enough to make You stay and enjoy our kind service and delicious food served in the manor salons, or just to sense the peace and silence of the Finnish nature.

We wish You a pleasant time at Tervaniemi!
